Overview

The Department of Respiratory Medicine, also known as Pulmonology, specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases affecting the lungs, airways, pleura, and respiratory muscles. We provide comprehensive care for both acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including infections, obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, sleep-related breathing disorders, and pulmonary vascular diseases.

Our expert pulmonologists work closely with critical care teams, radiologists, and other specialists to deliver patient-centred, evidence-based care, ensuring optimal lung function, improved quality of life, and enhanced overall health outcomes for patients of all ages.

Services Available

Diagnostic Services: Pulmonary function tests (spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion studies), chest X-rays, HRCT, CT pulmonary angiography, bronchoscopy, and sleep studies.

Medical Management: Inhalation therapies, bronchodilators, corticosteroids, antibiotics, antivirals, anti-fibrotic agents, oxygen therapy, and biologics

Interventional Pulmonology: Thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, pleurodesis, bronchoscopic tumor debulking, airway stenting, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).

Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Breathing exercises, physical conditioning, smoking cessation programs, nutrition counselling, and patient education.

Preventive Care: Vaccinations, occupational and environmental lung screening, TB contact tracing, and post-COVID care clinics.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:Coordinated care with critical care, thoracic surgery, oncology, radiology, cardiology, ENT, and physiotherapy for holistic management.
