The Department of Neurosurgery was started in the year 1989 at Ramaiah Hospital and has steadily grown into a premier service and the crux of the Institute of Neurosciences. Over the years, the department has earned the reputation as a centre of excellence for its evidence based clinical approach and cutting-edge surgical management of neurosurgical patients.

We have a team of highly qualified and experienced Neurosurgeons, who have additionally specialized in leading subspecialties of neurosurgery at globally acclaimed centers, bringing the most comprehensive treatment to the patients.

This is made possible with our state of art neurosurgical operating theatres equipped with neuro-navigation and neuro-monitoring facilities as well as a hybrid Cath Lab. Providing round-the-clock, affordable and accessible, world-class medical and surgical care to our patients. Ramaiah College Hospital, having been recognised as a centre for post-graduate teaching under the aegis of the Medical Council of India and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, the department takes pride in training future generations of neurosurgeons through its M.Ch Neurosurgery Residency program. 

The department also has a structured teaching and clinical orientation program for undergraduate and postgraduate students from other departments.
