Dr. S M Manohari

Dr. S. M. Manohari is a highly experienced psychiatrist with over 36 years of clinical, academic, and teaching experience. She is a Senior Consultant and Professor specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with extensive training from premier institutions in India and the United Kingdom.

After completing her postgraduate training in Psychiatry at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, Dr. Manohari underwent advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the United Kingdom. She has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at leading medical institutions, including St. John's Medical College Hospital, from where she superannuated in 2023.

Her clinical and academic interests include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, parenting issues, adolescent sexual behaviours (both neurotypical and neurodiverse populations), and postgraduate psychiatry education.

Dr. Manohari has authored and co-authored numerous publications in national and international indexed journals, contributed chapters to international textbooks, and written book chapters focused on mental health and medical education. She is also a committed teacher, having guided multiple postgraduate dissertations and research projects.

In recognition of her contributions to psychiatry education, she was awarded "Teacher Who Made Significant Contribution to Psychiatry Teaching" by the Indian Psychiatric Society in 2024. She is a frequent invited speaker and presenter at national and international conferences and serves as an examiner for MD and DM Psychiatry programs.
